I hear a lot of individuals using the term "the people." For example, the politicians don't support the "the people." Who are the people? Who gets to be a member of the "people." I generally understand this term to mean poor, working class, and middle class individuals. I wonder if this is right?

"we the people of the united states"....were the founding fathers loaded or poor? i guess i usually take it to mean the underprivileged people who are still people and cannot afford to have body parts replaced with machines.
If struggle = real, and "the people" = struggling people, then "the people" = real.
Is this right Russ?
